Mental health within Angola’s legal system remains an overlooked yet critical issue. Judges, lawyers, and other justice actors work under intense pressure, often facing emotional exhaustion, stigma, and inadequate institutional support. At the same time, the broader system courts, prisons, and legal institutions reflects structural challenges that affect overall well-being.
This article examines mental health in and of the Angolan legal system, drawing insights from World Health Organization reports and international studies. It highlights key psychosocial risks, data gaps, and systemic issues, while proposing practical, evidence-based recommendations to promote mental well-being and institutional resilience across Angola’s justice sector.
