Roxanne Amihere – The Connector Between Law, Culture & Change

Written by the Legal Africa Editorial Team

In a world where the law is often seen as rigid and far removed from everyday life, Roxanne Amihere is bringing it closer to the people — one case, one event, and one meaningful conversation at a time.

A Ghanaian lawyer with roots in the UK and a spirit that reaches across continents, Roxanne is not just another legal professional. She’s a cultural bridge-builder, a diaspora champion, and a voice for justice — fluent in Mandarin, French, and Twi, and fluent in impact.

A Legal Journey That Crosses Borders

Roxanne’s journey began at the University of Buckingham, where she earned her LLB, before pursuing her LPC/LLM at Birmingham City University. But her heart was always beating to the rhythm of home. She returned to Ghana to complete her BL at the Ghana School of Law (Makola) — a move that was more than academic. It was about rooting her global knowledge in local soil.

She has since worked with an impressive array of firms — from Bentsi Enchill and Kidd Rapinet LLP to Lawrence Kurt Solicitors and Hatton Cross Family and Immigration Tribunals. Each role added a layer to her growing expertise in human rights, family law, immigration, and social justice.

But Roxanne’s story doesn’t end in the courtroom.

The Law Meets the Public

Equally at home in a courtroom as she is on a stage or behind a press mic, Roxanne has carved a unique niche at the intersection of law, event management, and media relations. She doesn’t just speak legalese — she speaks people.

As the Diaspora Engagement Coordinator for GUBA, she’s the powerhouse behind some of the most talked-about diaspora events: from Otumfuo’s 25th Anniversary Akwasidae in the UK to the GUBA Invest Ghana Virtual Summit, and the vibrant Sip & Paint Networking Mixer for young professionals.

Her work with the British-Ghanaian Lawyers Union (BGLU) is equally trailblazing. She’s organized their participation in landmark gatherings like the 2024 Ghana Bar Association Conference, and led publicity efforts for elite events like the exclusive dinner hosted by Catherine Gokah, Partner at Kirkland & Ellis UK.

These aren’t just fancy parties — they’re platforms for influence, advocacy, and visibility. Roxanne ensures that African legal minds are not just present but celebrated in global rooms of power.

A Voice for the Voiceless

Roxanne’s passion for social justice isn’t a side project — it’s her calling. She works with intentionality to amplify the voices of the marginalized, whether it’s through advocacy for gender equality, pushing for legal reforms, or simply mentoring young African lawyers trying to find their place in the profession.

Her work consistently highlights the legal challenges facing underrepresented communities — especially women — and she uses her platform to demand change. Whether it’s standing up for justice in a courtroom or curating platforms for African excellence abroad, Roxanne’s message is clear: Everyone deserves a seat at the table.

Africa’s Next Generation of Legal Leaders

In every sense of the word, Roxanne Amihere represents the new face of African law — brilliant, bold, and beautifully multifaceted. She’s the lawyer who remembers her roots, connects her people, and uses every tool in her arsenal — from statutes to social media — to shift culture and policy.

As one of Africa’s most promising legal professionals for 2024-2025, Roxanne is not just watching change happen — she’s leading it.
